CEO: Moscow Exchange to launch trade in foreign shares Jul–Sep

MOSCOW, Apr 10 (PRIME) -- The Moscow Exchange plans to launch trading in foreign shares in July–September, CEO Alexander Afanasyev said on Tuesday at a forum.

“We want to provide a chance to the Russian players of the market and to investors to trade in global products through the usual mechanism of the Moscow Exchange as one of the alternatives as long as it is approved by law,” he said.

The bourse is interested not only in foreign shares, but in other products that are liquid at other markets. “We plan (to launch the trade) in the third quarter, this is this year’s event. We will start with top-liquid shares, the most liquid shares of the global market. We may prolong the evening trade session for that.”

He also said that the Moscow Exchange was discussing acquisition of a stake in the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange. “We have not signed the decision so far, so we are not allowed to speak about it. This also includes the issue of evaluation of the Kazakh exchange, as it is not a public company. But we will discuss it within the framework of our strategic partnership,” he said.
